The Power of the Dog starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Jesse Plemmons, and Kirsten Dunst is finally arriving on Netflix in less than 24 hours.

The highly anticipated film, which was released earlier this year at the 78th Venice International Film Festival, has been receiving bundles of critical acclaim praising the film for its gripping premise that is sure to leave audiences all over the world on the edge of their seats wondering what in the world will happen next.

It’s a film that you’re certainly going to want to watch as soon as it releases on the streaming platform, but before you do, learn all about the maturity rating for the 2021 film so that you know whether your younger ones can watch alongside with you.

The Power of the Dog age rating

At this time, The Power of the Dog has been given a restricted (R) age rating meaning that those under 18 years old are not suitable to watch the film without an older figure nearby. This age rating was given due to the events seen in the film that includes not just moderate amounts of nudity and sex but also scenes where a fair amount of gore, violence and strong language can be heard and/or seen.

With all these non-kid-friendly scenes, you may want to substitute this Western drama for a similar film. If that’s the case then watching Netflix’s The Stolen, Heartland, or Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle starring Cumbertach is the way to go.

Whether you watch these aforementioned recommendations or whether you opt for tuning into the Netflix premiere of The Power of the Dog, one thing is for sure: your Wednesday is definitely going to be filled with non-stop action and riveting drama.
