The Flash season 8 is set to wrap up its “Armageddon” crossover event on Tuesday, Dec. 14.

It’s been a winding, tragic road for Barry as he’s worked to prove to Despero that he wouldn’t do anything that could cause the world to end.

Set six months after the season 7 finale, “Armageddon” slowly reveals that how we left things in the previous season aren’t how they are now. While the team have grown professionally and personally, there’s a looming darkness that begins to dismantle Barry’s life piece by piece.

This five episode event will play into the rest of The Flash season 8, but we’ll be waiting awhile to see how. Here’s when the show will return next year!

When does The Flash season 8 return in 2022?

New episodes of season 8 will begin airing on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at 8 p.m. ET. Yes, that does mean that The Flash will be making the jump to a new night as it will no longer be airing on Tuesdays.

What with the rest of The Flash season 8 be about?

Spoilers ahead of The Flash season 8

Iris’ time sickness, which was put on the back burner for the most part in “Armageddon,” has a big part in the rest of the season. Showrunner Eric Wallace told TVLine the following about the storyline:

"Solving Iris’ time sickness is a huge, huge part of the entire season, and it will take all season to solve that. And that will have big ramifications for Barry and Iris’ relationship and marriage."

To recap, Iris had been falling in and out of time in the last episodes of season 7. While the crossover event didn’t focus on what’s been going on with her in that regard, she did make a decision that hugely impacted her illness and her progress.

Given the reports of both Rick Cosnett (Eddie Thawne) and Max Adler (Jaco Birch/The Hotness) returning in later episodes of season 8, it looks like we could actually see Iris moving through different points on her current timeline.

Robbie Amell (Ronnie Raymond/Firestorm) is also set to make a return which could play into Iris’ storyline, but he’s likely to be tied more closely to Caitlin’s as she expressed in “Armageddon, Part 1” that she’s ready to date again.
