6. The Amazing Spider-Man 2

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has a very similar issue to Spider-Man 3 with their overindulgence of villains, and their lack of a truly great one. As a Spider-Man story, overall, it just doesn’t hit the beats we are used to seeing from our favorite web slinger. However, it is one of the most romantic of any Spider-Man film, and as a romance film, it really works.

The chemistry between then coupled Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone was palpable. You could see and feel their connection not only as Peter and Gwen, but as Andrew and Emma. Their connection is what made the film work, and it is also what gave the film its heartbreaking ending.

The Amazing Spider-Man movies were not afraid to kill off some of their leads, and this rang true when Gwen perished while Peter tried to save her. It was too late for him, and now he had to deal with the consequences of what it meant to be Spider-Man.

This film isn’t one of the best, which is why it isn’t even in the top 5, but it is one of the most emotional of the entire catalogue. Andrew and Gwen are perfect in their respective roles, and the final fight vs. Jamie Foxx’s Electro is a truly memorable one, as well as the fight vs. Dane DeHaan’s Goblin.
