When it comes to animated Christmas movies, there’s not a ton of viable options for the youngsters. Of course, there’s the upcoming animated reboot of The Grinch and there’s past favorites like The Polar Express, but beyond those you’ll be hard pressed to find any classics outside of small screen specials such as Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Frosty the Snowman, or something from Disney.

But 2011’s Arthur Christmas offers a reprieve from the lack of holiday cartoons for children. Like all great Christmas movies, Arthur Christmas centers on Santa Claus and the inner workings of his storied workshop. Santa’s foolproof method of delivering toys to children works without fail each year, but when he misses one child out of millions, it’s up to his youngest son Arthur to fix the mistake before Christmas morning.

Arthur Christmas easily won the hearts and praise of critics and audiences alike. The film was nominated for the Golden Globe for Best Animated Feature and was certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes with a 92% rating. Despite its critical and commercial success, Arthur Christmas doesn’t receive the love it deserves each year as one of the best Christmas movies — animated or not — of all time.
