Spoiler alert! This article contains spoilers for Dynasty season 5. Catch up before reading ahead.

Dynasty returned with a festive shindig as the Carringtons deal with the repercussions of Blake’s (Grant Show) gala. Alexis (Elaine Hendrix) continues to plead her innocence as Amanda (Eliza Bennett) takes it upon herself to solve the murder. Meanwhile, Fallon’s (Elizabeth Gillies) condition worsens.

Following on from season 4’s shocking finale, Dynasty has pulled out all the stops to conceal Gillies’ involvement with the latest episodes; they kept her out of the ads, limited promos, but surely they wouldn’t actually pull the plug on her. It’s a worthy effort considering everyone seemed fairly confident the heiress wouldn’t be killed off – rest assured, she hasn’t been, yet at least.

For the first hour, Fallon must do some damage control after Eva (Kara Royster) leaks details about her relationship with Colin (Ashley Day) before confronting her attacker. In an unexpected twist, Eva informs Fallon that she was actually aiming for Liam (Adam Huber) all along.

The relationship between Falliam remains strained. They haven’t exactly been living in paradise recently. Despite her attempts to rekindle their marriage, Liam continues to distance himself, which culminates in a huge blowout as the episode ends with Fallon collapsing.

Does Fallon die in the Dynasty season 5 premiere?

Time-jumping two weeks ahead, Fallon spends the better half of this two-part premiere in a coma. This gives Liam a major reality check and whilst his wife lays unconscious indefinitely, he seems more than willing to put the past behind him and work towards fixing their relationship.

One thing we are treated to in the second episode is hearing Adam Huber finally duet (albeit briefly) with Gillies in a rendition of “I’ll Be Home for Christmas.” It’s candid, it’s sweet, it’s great to see Huber join the musical fun at long last. We also get a glimpse into Fallon’s coma dreams where she lives in domestic bliss with Liam and their children – possibly foreshadowing what’s to come.

As the second hour concludes, dream-Liam encourages Fallon to literally go into the light. Fallon awakens from her lucid state to find a sorrowful Liam at her side; the two share a kiss and are seemingly on the road to recovery. Thankfully, the coma plot isn’t unnecessarily dragged out to no end and the show isn’t dispersing of their most popular characters.

Dynasty season 5 premiere spoilers

With no build-up or closure, Blake decides to abandon his campaign for senator. The focus looks to be turning to Cristal (Daniella Alsono), who discovers brother, Beto (Geovanni Gopradi), also had a gun at the gala. Another battle between siblings is looming; how high will the stakes be raised now that Beto has stumbled upon a Cristal look-a-like who he’s looped into his next dastardly plan?

Amanda takes on sleuthing (used loosely) when she suspects Adam (Sam Underwood) for framing Alexis. It’s about time Adam gets his comeuppance considering all that he’s done (and gotten away with), but so far, Amanda has yet to prove herself a worthy adversary to her evil brother. There’s a lack of edge and enthusiasm to this sibling feud, falling flat in plenty of ways.

Perhaps the biggest development we see in the episode is Alexis’ mention of Steven (James Mackay), the long-forgotten, self-righteous Carrington child. All it would take for Adam’s world to shatter is Steven’s return. It’s too early to say whether Mackay will return to the series, but he’d be welcomed back with open arms.

Dynasty will return on March 11, 2022 on The CW.
