Spoilers ahead of Riverdale season 6

The “Rivervale” event concluded with a top tier 100th episode for Riverdale–“The Jughead Paradox”–which managed to ground the parallel universe into the show’s canon in a plausible for Riverdale kind of way.

Now that we’re back in Riverdale, however, we’ll be picking up where we left off. The 100th episode ended just as the bomb Hiram Lodge left under Archie’s bed detonated. Rivervale’s Jughead warned Betty in time for Barchie to make an escape but Jughead was still in Archie’s garage at the time.

While it’s unclear if that’ll play into the rest of the season considering Jughead’s ears were ringing due to the explosion (which has us worried about his hearing), we do know when the next episode will be out and what to expect from the rest of the season.

Is a new episode of Riverdale season 6 on tonight?

No. Riverdale season 6’s “Rivervale” has drawn to a close and the show is now on hiatus. All five episodes of the event are available to stream now on The CW app and cwtv.com.

When does Riverdale season 6 return in 2022?

New episodes of season 6 begin airing on Sunday, March 6, 2022 at 8 p.m. ET. You’ll definitely want to mark your calendars since this is a night and time change for the show which had been airing on Tuesday nights after The Flash.

What’s next in Riverdale season 6?

Now that we’re firmly back in Riverdale, the characters will be dropped back into the storylines they left off on in the season 5 finale. However, the events of “Rivervale” won’t simply be swept under the rug.

Showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa teased at the beginning of the season that fans would need to watch “Rivervale” to understand how things move forward in the rest of season 6. Likely this has to do with the relationships and dynamics explored in “Rivervale.”

To briefly recap, Archie and Cheryl were combative. Betty and Archie contemplated significant life events like marriage and having a child together. Reggie and Veronica had difficulty making their relationship work.

Tabitha and Jughead struggled initially with living together, but they continued to work through their problems and declared their love for one another. Toni and Fangs were on the bland side of romance and were paired with their exes Cheryl and Kevin in later “Rivervale” episodes.

The trailer for episode 6 reveals that Cheryl will let Jughead, Betty, and Archie know that she cursed them in the finale. She’d invoked her ancestor Abigail’s last words and that will likely unfold in some manner going forward.

Much of Cheryl’s story in “Rivervale” revolved around Blossom women and their divergence from what are considered to be societal norms when it comes to their beliefs, who they love, and the way they move through society and the world-at-large as women.

However, her heritage isn’t the only point of the past the show is set to expand upon. Chris O’Shea’s addition to the cast as Percival Perkins will see Riverdale once again discussing the founders of the town.

As a descendant of General Pickens, the man Cheryl’s ancestor Barnabas B. Blossom hired to remove the Uktena from their lands, Percival’s got history with Riverdale, too. A painful and traumatic history for Toni’s ancestors.

Percival intends on creating a utopia out of Riverdale, and he’ll do what he must to achieve his goal. It’s a mission that’ll see him at the center of conflict especially with Archie and likely with Choni as well.
