The year 2021 gave movie fans some of the best movies of all-time, but we’re not here to discuss the greatest movies of the year. Instead, we are focusing on the 2021 movies that received the most hate. These movies were trending online for all the wrong reasons.

When you try to remember which movies were the worst of the year, which come to mind? Which 2021 movies do you wish you could unsee? Maybe it’s a movie you regret watching, or maybe it’s a movie you don’t believe deserves the hype.

The quick list we share below is a little bit of everything. Some of these movies disappointed fans, while others are straight up terrible! The one thing they do have in common is that they are the most hated movies of the year.

Which movies are the most hated movies of 2021?

Eternals

As you can see, at the top of the list, we have Eternalsand who would have thought a Marvel Cinematic Universe movie would become one of the most hated films of the year? When Eternals trended online, it wasn’t because fans and critics were raving about it, but because of how much they didn’t like it. At Rotten Tomatoes, it’s the MCU movie with the lowest rating (yes, even lower than Thor: The Dark World). In fact, it’s the only Rotten MCU movie. What a shame!

He’s All That

Listen, I don’t want to give this movie more attention. We all know why it’s on this list and that it should have probably not been made. It’s getting a Razzie next year for sure.

Tom and Jerry

I was actually excited to watch Tom and Jerry with the family, but what a disappointment! From the story to the characters, it never captured my attention and it failed to entertain the kids.

The Woman in the Window

I’ll be honest, I actually enjoyed The Woman in the Window, but I can see why people hated on it so much when it came out. When I asked friends and family which movie they thought should be on this list, this one was very popular.

Locked Down

If you haven’t watched Locked Down on HBO Max, don’t. Save yourself. Don’t waste your time. I can’t even tell you how the movie ends because I gave up on it before the second act.

Space Jam: A New Legacy

I was so looking forward to the nostalgia! But this movie just isn’t it. It’s one of the biggest movie disappointments of 2021. The story wasn’t clever, audiences never cared about the characters, and the nostalgia simply was not there — they don’t even include the iconic theme from the first movie!

Dear Evan Hansen

Is the movie emotional? Is it manipulative? The answer is yes. Of all the movies on this list, Dear Evan Hansen is the one that got the most hate. I personally have not watched it and I’m not rushing to see it due to all the hate it received (and continues to get).

Halloween Kills

If I hear “evil dies tonight!” one more time…I don’t know what I’ll do. I was super excited to watch the Halloween movie and love that it premiered online, but what a disappointment this turned out to be. And the “evil dies tonight” chants? Possibly the most irritating moment in movie history.

From the movies on this list, which do you think are the top 3 most hated of 2021?
