So, instead of watching the ball drop, you’ll want to watch something else that’s entertaining. Or maybe you want to use up the time until the ball drop so you can at least count down and hope that 2022 is going to be better.

There are some great Netflix shows to check out, whether you’re watching alone or with the kids. Here are six great shows to watch this New Year’s Eve.

5 must-watch Netflix shows for NYE 2021

This list is in alphabetical order. They’re all Netflix Originals, and there’s one with a new season that drops on Dec. 31 so you’ll want to make the most of that one!

Cobra Kai

We start with the show that has new episodes dropping on New Year’s Eve. We even started 2021 with new episodes! Cobra Kai is the Karate Kid revival series that you didn’t initially realize that you needed.

It all started with Johnny and Daniel against each other again, but times have changed. Season 4 will see the two join together to go up against Kreese, who has called in an old friend to help him win the war.

Lucifer

We got the second half of Season 5 of Lucifer in 2021 and then we saw the whole of the sixth and final season drop. If you haven’t checked it out yet, now is the time to watch it. It’s one of those Netflix shows that you can also happily rewatch.

The seasons are filled with musical numbers and fun event episodes. The writers certainly had their fun from start to finish, and it’s sure to help you get in the mood for the ball dropping.

Outer Banks

Want a series that offers friendships that can’t be broken while teenagers are on the run for their lives? Outer Banks is the series to turn to, and we can’t help but make it one of our list of Netflix shows to watch.

The second season dropped in the summer of 2021, and we’ve just found out a third season is definitely happening. It brings us a story of the haves and the have nots, mixed with a story of crime, survival, and loyalty.

Most stressful TV shows

Squid Game on Netflix

Squid Game

What about something filled with action and shocking moments? The South Korean series Squid Game is a must-watch. It quickly gained attention as soon as it dropped and for good reason. It was compelling and well-written.

The series follows a group of people who are heavily in debt. They get the chance to wipe out their debt by playing old childhood games. However, there’s a catch. Lose the game and you die. Literally.

Super Monsters

Want something for the younger members of the family? Super Monsters is one of those Netflix shows that you need to put on. There are some holiday specials, covering all cultures.

The series follows a group of kids who attend a daycare. While at daycare, they turn into various supernatural creatures, including vampires, werewolves, and Egyptian goddesses. It’s a great story that introduces children to different cultures and ways of life. Nobody is made to feel out of place or different, encouraging children to treat others the same.

Unsolved Mysteries

Finally, it’s all about the docuseries Unsolved Mysteries. Well, it’s sort of a docuseries. It’s more of a reality show. It looks into a range of mysteries that have been, well, unsolved since they came up.

There are two volumes right now, and some of the cases have been reopened thanks to eagle-eyed viewers. Volume 3 will drop in 2022, so you’ll want to watch it now to get caught up and ready.
