Is General Hospital really going to kill off this iconic character?

There are always more than enough General Hospital rumors and speculations making their rounds. In December, one such rumor sent shock waves among GH fans. It was said that one of the most well-known characters of daytime television was being permanently killed off. That person is Luke Spencer! Yes, that Luke from the infamous Luke and Laura coupling.

That would certainly mean that the impeccable Anthony Geary, who had portrayed the role of Luke since 1978, will not be returning to the show that brought him much fame. Fans had hoped that one day he would pop back into Port Charles even for a few days, but it looks like that isn’t going to happen if the rumors are true. However, his on-screen wife, Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot), is rumored to be making her way back to town this week. Will she be bringing some horrible news with her?

General Hospital spoilers say that there will be some shocking news that will affect many residents in Port Charles. It certainly sounds like the writers are killing Luke Spencer off for good.

Another hint that Luke has died is seen in the brand new promo clip for the week of January 3 that was posted on Monday. Laura Collins, Luke’s ex, is seen with husband Kevin and by the looks of her shocked face, she is getting some terrible news. Her hand goes up to her mouth and she looks like she is about in tears.

General Hospital seems to be focusing on lives lost lately

The trend lately on General Hospital has been the loss of loved ones. It was bad enough when Mike Corbin lost his battle with Alzheimer’s over a year ago, but just in the past couple of months there have been more losses. Of course, the big story just weeks ago was the firing of Steve Burton because of the vaccine mandates. The soap ended up killing off his character of Jason Morgan, which has been the focus recently. Carly Corinthos is mourning big time over the loss of her BFF.

Then came the death of baby Liam, the newborn son of Brando Corbin and Sasha Gilmore. In fact, Mike, played by the amazing actor Max Gail, returned to carry the little guy back with him. Now with the news that Luke may very well be gone, too has General Hospital fans left wondering what the heck is going on.

Of course, people are frequently coming back from the dead on soaps, as may eventually be the case with Jason. Will Luke really be gone for good? Sound off your thoughts!
