Scream 5 release date, trailer, cast, synopsis, and more

If the question, “Do you like scary movies,” still sends a chill down your spine, then start mentally preparing yourself for the return of Ghostface as Scream 5  hits theaters soon.

You’ll be hard-pressed to find a more influential horror movie in the 1990s than Scream. The idea of mixing a slasher film with a dark teen comedy was genius. The characters were in on the joke, acknowledging horror tropes throughout the film. However, the gore and violence in the film pushed Scream to new heights as it revitalized the slasher genre.

The Scream franchise spawned four films that grossed over $600 million at the worldwide box office. The film helped elevate the careers of stars Neve Campbell, David Arquette, and Courtney Cox.

Now, the franchise is back with its fifth installment, Scream 5, which is both a relaunch of the franchise and a direct sequel to the fourth film. Scroll below for more details.

The film is scheduled to be released in theaters on Jan. 14, 2021. There will be special nighttime showings starting the night before, Jan. 13.

Scream 5 cast

As previously mentioned, Campbell, Arquette, and Cox return to the franchise. Marley Shelton also reprises her role as Judy Hicks, Deputy Sheriff of Woodsboro, from the fourth film.

The cast includes a mix of familiar faces and rising stars in Hollywood. Melissa Barrera, Mason Gooding, Jenna Ortega, Jack Quaid, Dylan Minnette, and Jasmin Savoy Brown join the franchise in this film.

Most importantly, Roger L. Jackson returns to voice the iconic Ghostface.

No one is ever safe in Woodsboro especially teenagers. A new killer posing as Ghostface is on the loose, and they’re ready to uncover the town’s secrets by taking out the teenagers of today. Can Sidney, Gail, and Dewey stop the killer once again before it’s too late?
