New movies in theaters and streaming this weekend: January 7, 2022
By Ricky Valero
Can anyone else believe that we have reached 2022? I don’t understand where the time went, but here we are. We share the best new movies to watch in theaters and films available on streaming services that you don’t want to miss.
The month of January has always been known as the weaker month on the calendar when it comes to movies. It’s when studios dump off films that they know won’t make big bucks and they can get it out of their library. While the month has some movies that look potentially good (Scream and Morbius), there are so many holdovers from the holiday film slate, the first week of the month isn’t a great landing spot for films.
Movies still in theaters that you can check out include Spider-Man: No Way Home, Sing 2, The Kings Man and American Underdog: The Kurt Warner Story, to name a few. Because of these holdovers, studios know better than to release their new films during this week.
We have a collection of women kicking ass, Bruce Willis’s latest VOD action movie, and a documentary following a pharmaceutical tycoon all dropping this week.
New movies to watch in theaters this weekend
- The 355
- See For Me (Limited)
- A Hero (Limited)
We already have a contender for the hottest movie on the first weekend of the year. The 355 stars Jessica Chastain, Lupita Nyong’o, Diane Kruger, Penelope Cruz, Bingbing Fan, and Sebastian Stan. Is it hot in here or just me?
The trailer showed off that it is going to be an action-packed film that we see these women kick some serious ass and I can’t wait. I am excited to check this movie out!
New movies to stream from home this weekend
- Pharma Bro (Hulu)
- American Siege (VOD)
The King of VOD Bruce Willis is back with his latest action film where he is a washed-up sheriff who is guarding the secrets of a small town in Georgia. While these movies can be hit or miss, the trailer for this one looks like it could be a hit.
What will you be watching this weekend? Will you enjoy a movie in theaters or streaming?
