When does Saturday Night Live season 47 return in 2022?

SNL fans have been missing the sketch comedy series these past several weeks! When does Saturday Night Live season 47 return?

Jan. 3 UPDATE: SNL will be back with new season 47 episodes on Jan. 15, 2022! The return of season 47 will kick off with West Side Story star Ariana DeBose as the host and Roddy Ricch as the musical guest. 

Our Saturday nights have been looking a little different without NBC‘s Saturday Night Live. Is the return near or are we in for a long wait? Here’s what we know about new episodes of SNL. 

The past weeks have featured SNL episodes on NBC on Saturday nights, but these haven’t been new episodes. Instead, NBC airs past episodes (many favorites) of the sketch comedy series. Now, I love rewatching some of my favorite episodes. I especially loved the episode aired on Jan. 1, which was hosted by Betty White to honor her.

When does Saturday Night Live come back?

Unfortunately, we are not sure when SNL season 47 resumes on NBC with new episodes. We do know that there are plenty of episodes ahead as the season should run through May 2022. So if you are waiting on your favorite celebrity to host or a musician to take over the stage, there’s still time to come up with a wishlist!

Our best guess is that season 47 will return either late January 2022 or mid February 2022. These dates match previous SNL return dates. As soon as we learn more about when the show returns, we’ll update this post. We’ll also update this piece with host and musical guest announcements as soon as they go live!

In addition to not knowing when SNL returns, we also don’t know if the show will be live or filmed from home. With COVID cases on the rise, Paul Rudd‘s episode featured a small crew, even the musical guest had to skip their appearance.

Who is hosting Saturday Night Live this weekend (January 8)?

The episode coming this weekend is an older episode, season 47 episode 6. This episode is hosted by Jonathan Majors (Loki) and the musical guest is Taylor Swift. It’s a great one so if you missed it the first time around, now is your chance to watch it. All previous episodes of the season (and others) are also streaming on Peacock.
