The finale was heavily teased from the start. Show creator Clyde Phillips shared that the ending of this show would “blow up the internet,” and he was not joking! Fans quickly took to social media to share how they feel — some love the ending, others absolutely hate it. How did you feel about it? Was Dexter’s death a satisfying ending for you? Would you have preferred a second season to better play out the final act and Angela’s arc?

While I find the finale frustrating, I feel like it could have been a lot worse. Think about it. Would you rather see Dexter go to jail or get the death penalty? I think not! However, I don’t feel like Harrison was the right person to kill Dexter. It definitely should’ve been someone from the original series, like Angel Batista. He never even made it to Iron Lake. On the other hand, at least it wasn’t Angela! That would’ve been more disappointing.

So what’s next for this franchise? Is this truly the end? I think Showtime and show creators are going to wait to see what the numbers look like. If there’s enough interest, we could be getting a spin-off with Harrison. Would you like to see Harrison’s story continue or do you find this a fitting close to the series?
