Quarantine has just started and you’re on Netflix, looking for something to watch. You stumble upon New Girl and your plans have just been made. Maybe you’re a long-time fan of the show who actually watched when it aired. Either way, The Welcome To Our Show podcast is exactly what you need.

Let’s backtrack for a minute, though. If you don’t remember, New Girl was a beloved sitcom on FOX that ran for seven seasons and almost 150 episodes. The show follows Jess, who, after going through a bad breakup, moves in with three strangers, Nick, Schmidt, and Winston. From there, things completely spiral with their lives from relationships, jobs, and each of them going on a journey to find themselves.

While the show was popular when it first premiered, it’s really become even more popular amidst the era of binge-watching. As someone who started watching the show when it aired and stopped, it was nice to go back and rewatch the entire thing. What makes it even more exciting though is the introduction of Welcome To Our Show.

Welcome To Our Show is a new rewatch podcast hosted by Zooey Deschanel (Jess), Lamorne Morris (Winston), and Hannah Simone (Cece.) Even though there are only two episodes thus far, it promises to be the perfect listen for fans of New Girl.

If you need more New Girl, then Welcome To Our Show is a must-listen

It’s only fair to let you know that Welcome To Our Show has only released two episodes thus far. The first episode was Zooey, Lamorne, and Hannah talking about the pilot episode. In particular, they talked a lot about the auditioning process and how the pilot came together. It was especially cool to see how each of their individual journeys came together to eventually make up the cast we know and love.

In this episode, we also got some insight into just how vast a scope the show had at the time. It was truly astonishing to hear how many people were interested in it. While New Girl has gone on to become a hit, it didn’t seem many Hollywood people were involved. It was crazy to hear how much insight Zooey Deschanel had into the process as well. It was clearly a project she loved from the start.

Overall, the first episode of Welcome To Our Show does an excellent job of giving us the vibe of the dynamic between the three along with featuring fun little tidbits about the show. As someone who hasn’t listed to “recap podcasts” before, it was a solid start. Plus the banter between Zooey, Hannah, and Lamorne is just excellent, it feels like you’re sitting down with friends.

As for the second released episode, this one is actually an interview with Jake Kasdan. He was the director of the first two episodes of New Girl. He also directed a few other episodes along with being an executive producer for the series. In a way, he basically had his hands everywhere within the New Girl realm at some point.

It was especially exciting to hear him talk about the behind-the-scenes process. He talked a lot about the auditioning process, how impressed he was with everyone on the show, and how much he enjoyed his time. It was honestly pretty exciting to hear him share his insights especially about the cast and how well they fit their roles.

Honestly, Welcome To Our Show is just a lot of fun and is the perfect listen if you love New Girl. In the first episode, the three share plenty of fun facts and tidbits that you otherwise wouldn’t have known. It’s just a fun listen and feels like you’re having a conversation with your friends. Plus we might actually learn the rules of True American, which is what every New Girl fan wants.
