Before audiences know it, they’ll be back with their buds in Point Place, Wisconsin again for the upcoming Netflix That 70s show spin-off, That 90s Show.

The show will star That 70s Show veterans Kitty Forman (Debra Jo Rupp), Red Forman (Kurtwood Smith) and newcomer, Leia Forman (Callie Haverda) for another period sitcom, possibly with mood rings, bike shorts, acid-washed jeans, and other 90’s trends.

That 90s Show sitcom release updates

Over the weekend, Rupp and Smith celebrated the start of the show’s production on social media. Rupp posted an Instagram picture of her seat with the script and her name placard on top. She wrote, “And we have started (smiley face).” The post quickly garnered over 14k likes with Danny Masterson (Steven Hyde) commenting, “I pre-nominate you for the Emmy (heart-eye smiley face).” So, it’s safe to say that the spin-off has a green light from some original show actors.

Smith also took to Instagram to share the That 90’s Show festivities with a photo of the script and the caption, “…what’s that in my old 70’s Show chair? #backtowork #that90sshow #that70sshow #netflix.” His post received over 19K likes with comments like, “Love you Kurt! Can’t wait for the Red & Kitty comeback.”

Both actors also took to Twitter for similar posts to show their utter excitement to be back with a new show that both new and seasoned That 70’s Show fans can enjoy. Rupp Tweeted, “Back again (smiley face) The same but different. So fun (laughing tear face) along with the same photo from her Instagram post.

Smith posted the script again, but with the caption, “Red and Kitty, teenagers, grunge rock…let’s gooooo! #That90sShow @netflix.” Their energy registered with fans as comment after comment of celebration followed.

What will That 90s Show on Netflix be about?

The show will follow Eric and Donna’s daughter, Leia, during Summer vacation with her grandparents, played by Rupp and Kurtwood. It will introduce an all gang of teens that will have their own (hopefully hilarious) moments, like the show’s predecessor. The newbies included Ashley Aufderheide (Gwen), Mace Coronel (Jay), Maxwell Acee Donovan (Nate), Reyn Doi (Ozzie) and Sam Morelos (Nikki).
