Uncharted release date, synopsis, trailer, and more

One of the Playstation’s popular video games is heading for the big screen as Uncharted will finally hit theaters on Feb. 18, 2022.

Tom Holland stars as Nathan Drake, a young and charismatic treasure hunter searching for both fortune and details surrounding his brother’s disappearance. Drake teams up with Victor “Sully” Sullivan, played by Mark Wahlberg, to find the gold from the voyages of Magellan. On the way, the duo will battle Moncada (Antonio Banderas), a merciless treasure hunter after the same treasure.

Uncharted has been in development since 2008 with many actors and directors attached to the project. At one point, Wahlberg was going to star as Drake but later opted for the role of Sully when Holland signed on to play Drake in 2017.

Thanks to Holland’s star power from Spider-Man, Sony has high hopes for Uncharted as it has the possibility to spurn multiple sequels. Will it happen? The box office results will be a major determining factor in that decision.

Uncharted release date

The action-adventure film will be released in the United Kingdom on February 11, 2022. It will then arrive in the United States one week later on February 18, 2022.

Uncharted synopsis

Below is the official synopsis from the film’s website.

"Street-smart Nathan Drake (Tom Holland) is recruited by seasoned treasure hunter Victor “Sully” Sullivan (Mark Wahlberg) to recover a fortune amassed by Ferdinand Magellan and lost 500 years ago by the House of Moncada. What starts as a heist job for the duo becomes a globe-trotting, white-knuckle race to reach the prize before the ruthless Santiago Moncada (Antonio Banderas), who believes he and his family are the rightful heirs. If Nate and Sully can decipher the clues and solve one of the world’s oldest mysteries, they stand to find $5 billion in treasure and perhaps even Nate’s long-lost brother…but only if they can learn to work together."

Uncharted cast

The cast is headlined by Holland and Wahlberg, who are two of the most well-known action stars in the world. Joining the two stars in the cast are Antonio Banderas as the villain, Moncada, Sophia Ali as Chloe Frazer, and Tati Gabrielle as Braddock.

Pilou Asbæk and ElrubiusOMG will appear in undisclosed roles while Nolan North, the voice of Nate in the video game series, will make a cameo appearance.
