It looks like Netflix is saying goodbye to its Marvel heroes next month. All of the Defender series shows are moving on, hopefully for a future on Disney + or Hulu.

This discovery was made when audiences noticed that the Netflix Marvel shows now have notes attached to them that read, “This show is available until March 1st.” However, no formal announcements have been made by Netflix, Marvel or Disney. But when there isn’t a report denying the rumors, that’s when you know it’s true. We can only wonder what fate awaits our heroes.

Which Marvel shows are leaving?

On March 1, at the strike of midnight, fans will be saying goodbye to all of Marvel’s Netflix shows. This means Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, The Punisher, Iron Fist and The Defenders.

Why are Marvel’s Netflix shows leaving the streaming platform?

While no formal statements have been released on the matter, the conclusion that many have come to is—the deal between Disney and Netflix is over. Taking the Marvel shows off the streaming platform was likely a longtime coming after most were cancelled abruptly in 2018.

The joint venture between Disney, which owns Marvel, and Netflix was made before Disney + was released. They wanted to expand the Marvel Cinematic Universe  and connect the shows to the movies.

While fans did get treated to Daredevil’s Matt Murdock during  the Spiderman: No Way Home cameo and Kingpin’s (Daredevil) appearance in the Disney+ Hawkeye series, the connections between the Netflix characters and the larger MCU don’t go very far.

Disney’s attention clearly shifted to developing Disney+’s Marvel content, meaning a deal with Netflix is no longer necessary. While there may be little answers for now, it’s a good time for fans to binge their favorite Netflix Marvel shows while they still can.
