New Jeepers Creepers: Reborn image in Horror Hound magazine
By Eric Trigg
Horror Hound has unveiled a new look at Screen Media’s Jeepers Creepers: Reborn, the fourth entry in the controversial horror series. Still slated to arrive sometime this year, the film hasn’t done a lot to get horror fans hyped for its release. However, this hasn’t stopped a select few from piecing together the puzzle. Its official teaser managed to spark some intrigue, and a site dedicated to the film has been releasing cast interviews. The Creeper was set to feast last Halloween season before getting delayed, but this latest image showcases what’s to come.
Jeepers Creepers: Reborn intends to breathe new life into the series without direct involvement from series creator, Victor Salva. Serving as the long-awaited sequel to Jeepers Creepers 2, it will pick up 23 years after the events of the original trilogy. Horror Hound revealed their involvement with the project a few months ago and showcased a look at The Creeper’s new hunting grounds. The Horror Hound convention will be used as a location for The Creeper to smell a great supply of fear before selecting its victims.
While The Creeper didn’t return last fall as expected, a short teaser did show off a terrifying structure that the monster will stalk its prey in. Fans of the original will recall that the winged monster’s place of residence is referred to as its “House of Pain.” In the teaser, a group of four can be seen running around this new residence presumably trying to avoid The Creeper. An official trailer has yet to be released, which has some fans growing impatient. In the meantime, the film’s official social media accounts have been releasing minute-long interviews with the cast.
Sydney Craven will star as Laine, The Creeper’s most likely main target judging from the teaser and behind-the-scenes images. Imran Adams takes up the role of Chase, Laine’s boyfriend, who drags her to the Horror Hound event. Chase is described as a big horror nerd, so fans of the genre might identify with him the most. Peter Brooke is also starring as a character named Stu and he seems to be very familiar with The Creeper’s existence. No actors from the previous films seem to be returning, which also includes Jonathan Breck, who was known for his role as The Creeper.
Who will The Creeper target in Jeepers Creepers: Reborn?
The official Twitter account for Jeepers Creepers: Reborn published a tweet that included a new image showing off Chase and Laine at the Horror Hound event. Those waiting to see the film are encouraged to subscribe to the newsletter on 23rdday.com, a site dedicated to promoting the project. Upon signing up you will be granted access to exclusives and alerts regarding news related to the film. In this latest still, Chase can be seen interacting with someone dressed as Beetlejuice while Laine is behind him slightly smiling.
The logline for the film does only mention Chase and Laine, so these two will be the film’s focus. What’s interesting is them being a couple because originally, Trisha and Darry Jenner were going to be a romantic couple in The Creeper’s first movie. It seems like a fun way of also creating another Kenny and Darla scenario, the high school couple that went missing in 1978. Hopefully, Chase and Laine can do better against The Creeper compared to those that came before them. Perhaps Laine is going to have a horrible time at the event before she ultimately gets taken.
Behind the scenes, images have highlighted Laine alone in the new “House of Pain”, which gives the impression that Chase will go rescue her. What this monster could want from Laine is not known, but it’s possibly much more demented than expected. The film’s poster includes a baby carriage with a tagline reading “Death Gives It Life” and this has sparked the idea of Laine being pregnant, so The Creeper may want her unborn child. Although, the carriage could be referencing The Creeper returning from its slumber. An official look at the monster’s new design has yet to be released, and this new image unfortunately might not be that pleasing to those awaiting that.
When will The Creeper’s return take place? (New Jeepers Creepers release date predictions)
Jeepers Creepers: Reborn hasn’t officially announced a release date, but April is what many territories have listed for the project. April could always change, yet Australia and Germany’s distributions have listed April for now and continue to do so. The states will most likely receive a Fathom Event, similar to Jeepers Creepers 3 during its theatrical release. A November date was expected last year, with some chains even selling tickets, but it was canceled. The film’s director, Timo Vuorensola did recently tweet that the film was almost finished.
Jeepers Creepers: Reborn should be releasing an official trailer very soon, so fans of the series will get a better idea of what to expect. While the project was quietly shot out in Lousiana and the UK, its secrecy has to come to an end soon. With a release still expected this year, it’s only a matter of time before The Creeper returns to feast for another 23-day cycle.
