The Northman is one of the most highly anticipated movies of this year. After his two successful directorial ventures (The Witch and The Lighthouse), writer-director Robert Eggers returns with an action-packed, revenge thriller epic based on the legend of Amleth.

Focus Features

is distributing the large-scale film in the United States while Universal Pictures is set to distribute it internationally. The movie is scheduled to be released on April 22, 2022.

The Northman synopsis

The Viking diaspora takes place in 14th century Iceland. It is told from the perspective of young Amleth who witnesses his father (King Aurandvil) being brutally murdered by his uncle (Fjölnir). The Viking prince escapes his homeland and vows to seek revenge and justice for his deceased father.
