Walker: Independence cast: who’s in the upcoming CW series?

Walker: Independence is one of the three series that The CW has picked up for pilot in 2022. The show is a spin-off of the popular Walker reboot that stars Jared Padelecki in the lead role. However, instead of being set in the present day this spin-off will take viewers to the 1800s.

Abby Walker, one of Cordell’s ancestors, is described by Deadline as being an affluent Bostonian who finds herself making the journey to Independence, Texas in the wake of her husband’s murder. He was killed right in front of her, and she’s out for blood in retribution.

Along the way, she comes across Hoyt Rawlins, an outlaw who takes a shine to her. Together they’ll search for answers and develop relationships with the people in town who, like them, are running from the past and toward their dreams. Independence is nothing like any of them have known and as times change so will they, creating the found family they’ll need in order to survive.

Character descriptions

Katherine McNamara is back on a CW show and this time it’ll be her own. Abby Walker is described as a tough minded woman who, in spite of immense loss, adopts the name Walker to chart a new path for herself. Abby knows she’ll need both strength and finances to rise to the challenge set before her, but she’s determined to make a life for herself and get the answers she’s owed.

Matt Barr will be playing Hoyt Rawlins once again except this time he’ll don the cowboy boots of the present day character’s ancestor. This Hoyt is as cocky as he is confident, though he’s laying low in Independence because he’s an outlaw. He’s also in an on-and-off again romance with Lucia Montero, a rancher’s daughter. But with Abby a part of his life, his rambling, gambling ways may be coming to an end.

Sheriff Tom Davidson has newly come into power but don’t let his charm offense fool you, his smile is the only thing nice about him. He was mighty quick taking over Liam Walker’s job, and Abby’s of the mind that Tom might be the devil himself or at least a very bad man.

Kai is runs the local laundry with Bowen Sing. The former railroad worker is described as having a kind face. He and Abby strike up a friendship after offering her a meal and some advice about the town.

Calian is a member of the indigenous scouting party located outside of Independence. He finds Abby and saves her life, but he knows he can’t walk into town with a white woman on his arm, so he leaves her on the outskirts of Independence. Calian is described as being curious but wary of the settlers coming to the area. Their innovations, culture, and music are of interest to him, but they’re encroaching on the lands of his people.

Deputy Sheriff Augustus works closely with Sheriff Tom Davidson but that doesn’t mean he’ll share his opinion of him with you. Gus knows how the world works. Polite, even-tempered, and always willing to lend a hand, this deputy is just what Independence needs.

Kate is a federal agent who’s undercover in Independence as a burlesque dancer. It seems her investigation is centered on both the town and Sheriff Tom. Could Abby’s nemesis be in trouble with the law himself?

Gabriela Quezada as Lucia, a singer who wants to make a name for herself. She’s the daughter of ranchers, but she wants to live a different life. Though she’s caught up in a romance with Hoyt, Lucia’s also fiercely loyal to her family and when tragedy strikes she’s right there by their sides looking for whoever it was that did them harm.
