Apple TV+ has released the trailer for its new thriller series, The Shining Girls. The show centers around Kirby Mazrachi, played by The Handmaid’s Tale actress Elisabeth Moss.

In addition to Moss as the lead, the new series also stars Wagner Moura as seasoned yet troubled reporter Dan Velazquez. Jamie Bell plays creepy murderer Harper Curtis. Phillipa Soo and Amy Brenneman also star in the drama series.

The Shining Girls is based on Lauren Beukes’ novel of the same name. Beukes serves as one of the show’s executive directors. The series has been adapted for television by showrunner Silka Luisa. Moss executive produced, as well as directed at least an episode. It’s not known how many episodes she directed, but that’s certainly exciting!

What is The Shining Girls about?

The Shining Girls follows the story of Kirby, a Chicago newspaper archivist whose journalistic ambitions were put on hold after a traumatic assault six years ago. When she learns that a recent murder mirrors her own case, she partners with Dan to uncover her attacker’s identity. Through their search the duo discovers a series of unsolved murders of multiple women are actually linked. Kirby and Dan’s personal trauma, as well as her constantly shifting reality allow her assailant to remain one step ahead.

Sounds so interesting, right? Cinematically, the editing already catches your attention in the trailer. I’m sure the show will be just as pleasing to the eye. The Shining Girls is certainly going to be a hit for those who love a good thriller. And with Elisabeth Moss leading the show? I know it’s going to be great!

The new series will drop on Apple TV+ on April 29 with the first three episodes, followed by one new episode weekly every Friday. According to Deadline, there’s a total of eight episodes.
