House of the Dragon is not coming to HBO in April 2022
We’re all ready for the Game of Thrones prequel series, House of the Dragon. It’s not coming in April 2022, but we may have a hint of a release date.
As much as we very much despise the ending to Game of Thrones, there is a lot of hope and hype around the prequel series House of the Dragon. It’s set hundreds of years before the events of Dany, Jon, Cersei, and others, and it also comes from new showrunners.
The bad news is the wait for the series continues. This is not a show that’s arriving in April 2022, which isn’t that surprising. With a show as big as this, we’d have some warning about a release date. We’re expecting the news about a month or maybe two before the show premieres.
House of the Dragon release date predictions
We may have an idea as to when the series will come to HBO and HBO Max. Our sister site Winter Is Coming noticed that Emma D’Arcy management company suggested the show was coming in August, but the month was later removed.
Matt Smith also commented that the series would arrive in August. He then said “September” to make it potentially seem like he didn’t know. However, it could be that he’s just covering his tracks as the actors aren’t supposed to be revealing the dates just yet.
This doesn’t mean August is a definite month. We saw with Outlander that Sam Heughan said February only for Season 6 to premiere in March. Actors do get it wrong and schedules can have to change. But, it does look like we’re getting closer to the release date, and we’d happily take August 2022!
August would make the most sense. This would allow HBO to get a run of loyal viewers before Prime Video releases Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.
House of the Dragon is coming to HBO and HBO Max sometime in 2022.
