Shaun survived a troubled childhood and though the hospital board is reluctant to hire him at first, he finds his place with colleagues and friends in the emergency room.

The lead of the series is Freddie Highmore who plays Dr. Shaun Murphy. Richard Schiff stars as Dr. Aaron Glassman. Murphy’s friend, mentor, and father figure. Paige Spara plays Lea Dilallo who is Shaun’s friend, later turned love interest.
