If you’re going to fall in love, what better place to do it than the galaxy? New HBO Max film, Moonshot, takes us on a journey far, far away. And like every great romantic comedy, sparks will certainly fly.

The science-fiction film follows college student Sophie who is struggling to maintain a very long-distance relationship with her boyfriend, Calvin. Her long-term beau meets all the traits on her “life partner checklist,” but the catch is that he’s living and working on a terraformed Mars. Yeah, talk about long distance!

At the café she frequents, she meets a barista with a dream to travel to space. After Sophie tells Walt she’s enrolled in the Mars Program to be closer to her boyfriend, the coffee-making employee stows away on her space shuttle. On their journey to Mars, there’s bound to be cosmic energy flowing between the two, right?

The streaming service released the new film today, March 31. It dropped on

Moonshot cast

So who rounds out the Moonshot cast? We’ve got some great actors! The stars of the HBO Max movie are:

  • Lana Condor as Sophie
  • Cole Sprouse as Walt
  • Mason Gooding as Calvin
  • Michelle Buteau as Captain Tartar
  • Emily Rudd as Ginny
  • Zach Baff as Leon

Sprouse is most well-known right now for his role as Jughead Jones in The CW’s Riverdale. The show was his debut back into the acting world after his long-time run on The Suite Life of Zack & Cody on Disney Channel, which he starred in with his twin brother Dylan. Condor of course is known for her breakout role on Netflix’s trilogy movie series, To All The Boys.

Pairing up Sprouse and Condor for Moonshot was unexpected, but that’s what makes it so great! The two definitely have chemistry that can be seen clearly just by watching the trailer. The concept of the story is pretty out of this world – pun intended. Galactic sci-fi isn’t my favorite. But since it’s starring both Condor and Sprouse, then sign me up!
