With Disney rebooting and remaking some of its most beloved classic tales, eventually, it would come to pass that the Mouse House would digitally revamp its 1942 property Bambi. The film is said to still be in its development stages and will be using a similar technology that brought The Lion King remake “to life.”

It seems that Disney has yet to learn from its lessons. The Lion King remake failed to resonate within critics as it was criticized for having visual effects that looked too real-somewhat- and crossed the line of the uncanny valley. Here’s why the Bambi remake is not a good idea at all.

Bambi will be ruined with overuse of CGI

The biggest problem with many Disney remakes, according to critics, is the fact that the remakes overuse CGI to the detriment of the film. The Lion King was gorgeous to look at, but because of its overly realistic CGI, it failed to capture the facial expressions that the original movie had.

As a result, it created an overly digital world that was more artificial than realistic in its execution. If the remake to Bambi is anything like the 2019 CGI remake, It seems that it might be more soulless than joyous when audiences go to see it in cinemas.

What more could you add to the Bambi story?

Disney has always had an issue with its creativity and originality department. If Disney decides to go through with the project, it sounds like the remake won’t add anything new to the original. It’s as if the studio has hit a dead-end when it has come to creating new content that sticks to generations. It’s almost as if Disney is long past its prime and has yet to evolve beyond the glory days of the 90s that made the studio so great.

Bambi already has an ardent fanbase

The one thing about most Disney films is that they still have a fanbase that will be rallying behind them. With that being said, it is very hard for remakes to obtain the same level of appreciation and adoration that its cartoon predecessor gained.

With a classic that has engrossed so many people, it seems hard to replace the original in all of its glory. The fans will ultimately rally behind what seems more familiar and discard something that seems more out of the ordinary. Hopefully, Disney can course-correct.
