American Idol contestants’ fates are no longer in the hands of the judges. Going forward, the aspiring singers will need to impress America for their shot at becoming the next American Idol.

On Sunday, the first half of The Top 24 took to the stage at Disney’s Aulani Resort in Hawaii. Those included Platinum ticket winners Jay and Huntergirl, as well as Elli Rowe, Tristen Gressett, Scarlet, Sage, Mike Parker, Danielle Finn, Emyrson Flora, Dan Marshall, Jacob Moran, and Nicolina.

Judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry, and Lionel Richie provided their feedback and comments, but now who stays is all up to you. Voting started last night at 8 p.m. ET and ended this morning at 6 a.m. ET for last night’s performers. The next half will be taking the stage today. So how can you vote for your favorites?

How to vote for contestants on American Idol

There are three ways to cast your votes: online on the ABC website, on the American Idol app, or through text. Every week you can submit up to 10 votes for each contestant per voting method. So you can cast 10 votes online, 10 in the app, and 10 through text for a total of 30 votes per week.

Voters at home need to be at least 16 years old and reside in the U.S., Puerto Rico, or the Virgin Islands. You can check the website or the American Idol app to find out when to vote each week for the rest of the season.

Tonight, the second half of the Top 24 will be performing for your votes. Singer Bebe Rexha will serve as a mentor. If you’re tuning in, voting will once again open at around 8 p.m. ET. until tomorrow morning (April 12) at 6 a.m. ET. Once the Top 20 is chosen, the show will move back to Hollywood for the live performances. Going forward it’s America’s votes that count and determine which of the contestants will move on to the next round, eventually crowning the next American Idol.

American Idol airs Sunday and Monday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC, and episodes are available to stream on on Hulu the next day they air.
