Moon Knight is the latest Marvel series on Disney+ and an instant fan favorite! However, it didn’t audiences long to see that Moon Knight was not a series for kids. From all Marvel shows out so far, Moon Knight seems to be the darkest and most violent. On the fence about letting your younger ones join you Wednesday nights? Here’s why the Disney+ series is rated TV-14.

It’s no secret that, for families, part of the fun of watching Marvel movies on the big screen is enjoying that experience with their children. Now, I’m not talking about the super young tots (they’d ruin the fun if we’re being honest), I mean our grade school kids who genuinely love Spider-Man, Iron Man, and the rest of the Avengers. The movies are rated PG-13 for scenes of violence and some language, but they are relatively safe to watch. Other than Eternals, the MCU has kept sexual content out. That said, a TV-14 rating is not the norm.

The series Moon Knight is not the first to get a TV-14 rating, though, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki, and the other Marvel shows did, too. They all do feature stronger fight scenes and violence, especially TFATWS and Moon Knight

When the TV-14 rating was announced for Moon Knight, Kevin Feige commented that it is the most “brutal” show so far. We have seen a lot more violence, but I do wonder if there is even more to come in the last episodes.

So is the show appropriate for you kid? I think so! While PG-13 appears to be the standard for Marvel movies, it looks like the standard for Marvel shows is going to be TV-14. Of course, I’m no expert, you know your kid best! Both ratings aren’t too different, so if your child has comfortably enjoyed the MCU so far, they’ll be ready to buckle up for Moon Knight just fine!
