HBO and HBO Max have some exciting content coming up in 2022. After catching the TCA panel for the platform, we learned more details about what’s to come. Below, we share five new and returning HBO Max series you want to have on your radar.

When it comes to the streaming wars, there’s never a dull moment! Because as they compete to have the most popular series and movies, we enjoy the content. Which streaming platform do you believe stands out the most? Here at Hidden Remote, we love them all! However, HBO Max is truly capturing our attention with its compelling and impactful series. HBO is also very much working on dishing out diverse content, even diving more into reality TV. Here’s what we have to look forward to.

5 new and returning HBO Max series to watch

The Staircase

First up, we have The Staircase, which is set to premiere on HBO Max. This 8-episode limited series will follow Kathleen and Michael Peterson before and after the tragedy of Kathleen’s suspicious death. Showrunner Antonio Campos shared that The Staircase is also family drama, which is one of the ways the limited series stands out from other works that have explored this case. The Staircase premieres on HBO Max sometime this spring and stars Colin Firth and Toni Collette.

Julia

Julia will stream on HBO Max and it is inspired by Julia Child’s extraordinary life and journey to the her successful long-running television series, The French Chef. The comedy-drama premieres on HBO Max sometime this spring. Julia stars Sarah Lancashire, David Hyde Pierce, bebe Neuwirth, and others.

Barry season 3

Barry season 3 officially has a release date! The third season is coming in April 24 and it is set to be the most intense season yet. If you have never watched Barry, you’re missing out, watch the first two seasons on HBO Max. Barry stars Bill Hader, Alex Berg, Henry Winkler, Stephen Root, Sarah Goldberg, and Anthony Carrigan.

We Own This City

This six-hour limited series is based on the book by Baltimore Sun reporter Justin Fenton. The story will follow the rise and fall of the Baltimore Police Department’s Gun Trace Task Force. We Own This City premieres on April 25 on HBO and HBO Max, it stars Jon Bernthal, Wunmi Mosaku, Jamie Hector, McKinley Belcher III, Darrell Britt-Gibson, and others.

The Time Traveler’s Wife

Searching for a romance? HBO has you covered with The Time Traveler’s Wife. Adapted by Steven Moffat from the novel of the same name, the HBO series will follow the love story between Clare (Rose Leslie) and Henry (Theo James). Watch it on HBO Max on May 15.
