Been missing the Freeform original series, Cruel Summer? Don’t worry, so have we. But thankfully, we won’t have to sit in our somberness for much longer because season 2 is currently in the works, and we have some major updates about the anticipated sophomore season.

The first time we were introduced to the series, it followed the life of a young girl named Kate Wallis (Olivia Holt) who mysteriously went missing one summer. The first season also told the story of Jeanette Turner (Chiara Aurelia), the suspicious girl who took over Kate’s life, which allowed viewers to ponder what exactly happened to Kate and if Jeanette had anything to do with her absence.

Though this story was seriously super intriguing from start to finish, leaving us second-guessing everything we thought we knew to the very last second, as we know, the story has since concluded. So, what will Cruel Summer season 2 be about, and who is slated to appear in the sophomore season if Holt and Aurelia are not confirmed to appear again? We tell you everything we know so far here.

Cruel Summer season 2 release date

We don’t have long now to jump back into the world of Cruel Summer! It was confirmed this spring that the second season will premiere on Freeform on June 5, 2023 with two brand-new episodes! After that, one new episode will come out a week.

Cruel Summer season 2 cast

Deadline reports the cast of Cruel Summer season 2 features a fair share of actors and actresses you’ve definitely seen on your screens before. The cast is as follows:

• Sadie Stanley as Megan
• Lexi Underwood as Isabella
• Griffin Gluck as Luke
• Lisa Yamada as Parker
• Paul Adelstein as Luke’s Father
• KaDee Strickland as Megan’s Mother
• Sean Blakemore as Sheriff Myer

And the cast isn’t the only thing that’s undergone some changes! In addition to the brand-new cast, Power Book IV: Force producer Elle Triedman will serve as the second season’s showrunner instead of season 1’s Tia Napolitano.

Cruel Summer season 2 synopsis

This time, the season will be set in a town in the Pacific Northwest. Here, the characters will find themselves forever changed by a shocking event in their own respective way.

Megan, the intelligent student open to new experiences, becomes distrusting of those around her, while Isabella, the eccentric go-getter, has a past that she can no longer hide. And as for Luke, he is forced to confront the dissatisfaction he feels toward his life after the mystery shakes up both his and his friends’ lives.
