Where to stream The CW’s hit shows (Netflix, Hulu, the CW App and more)

The CW is home to many a popular show on television. While the network is primarily known for the Arrowverse these days, it’s gone through more than one era in its 16 years of existence. WB shows like One Tree Hill and Smallville transitioned into CW originals once the network merged with UPN, bringing with them an audience curious to see what the channel’s future would be.
During this transitional period, the network made the jump from a sitcom heavy line-up to one heavily focused on teen dramas. Their first breakout hit was Gossip Girl and The CW has been full of majority conversation starting television ever since. Despite, the fact that it’s never turned a profit, the network has fueled pop culture for over a decade.

Where to stream CW shows online
Where to stream CW shows: Netflix
The majority of The CW’s shows are on Netflix. This is due to a deal that Warner Media and Paramount (then ViacomCBS) struck with the streamer. Each new series prior to the deal’s termination in 2019 would land on Netflix eight days after the season finale aired on the channel.
While this deal no longer exists, its stipulations are still in place. This means any CW show that fell within this agreement will remain on Netflix until five years after its series finale lands on the streamer. As such, we could be close to the 2030s before the last CW show leaves Netflix.

Where to stream CW shows: HBO Max
Now that Warner Media and Paramount have ended their deal with Netflix, the streaming home for new CW shows is HBO Max. The streamer, which is Warner Media’s streaming arm, is the go-to platform for all CW series that have released from 2019 onward (if the show premiered after the deal expired). The exception is the OG Gossip Girl which was brought onto the platform ahead of the revival’s premiere.

If CW shows aren’t on Netflix, HBO Max, or cwtv.com/the CW App then there’s a possibility they’re spread out across the web. Now this is due to the fact that many of these shows either started their runs as WB shows or only lasted about a season on the network.
