Obi-Wan Kenobi premieres this month on Disney+. The series will return Star Wars fans to the side of Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan from the prequel trilogy. It was through his and Anakin Skywalker’s story that we learned how Darth Vader became the Sith Lord viewers knew from the original trilogy.

The Star Wars franchise has captured the imagination and love of audiences for decades, and the TV content for this universe has been pouring in more than ever. Obi-Wan’s show is one in a line of Star Wars projects set to drop on the streamer this year including The Mandalorian season 3 if it does make a Christmas release window.

As such this highly anticipated series is one of several, and we can’t wait to see where they all take the story set in this galaxy far, far away.

Here’s everything we know about the upcoming series!

Obi-Wan Kenobi release date

Obi-Wan Kenobi premieres Friday, May 27 at 3 a.m. ET/12 a.m. PT. Polygon reports that the first two episodes will drop on this date and then the series will move to weekly releases on Wednesdays starting June 1.

How many episodes is Obi-Wan Kenobi?

There are total of six episodes.

Is Obi-Wan Kenobi a limited series?

Yes, this show is a limited series which means it’s not expected to make a return for a second season. While this can be reversed at Lucasfilm’s discretion, it likely won’t be as Obi-Wan Kenobi is being billed as a complete story.

When Does Obi-Wan Kenobi take place in Star Wars canon?

We’re returned to Obi-Wan’s life a decade after Episode III: Revenge of The Sith. Due to Order 66, our hero has been lying low as any remaining members of the Jedi order are being hunted across the galaxy. Obi-Wan is on Tatooine because he wants to bring a young Luke Skywalker under his tutelage much to the chagrin of the boy’s uncle, Owen.

Obi-Wan Kenobi age rating

The series is rated TV-14 which is typical of Disney+’s Star Wars television. This rating is likely due to fantasy violence, intense and frightening sequences, and possible depictions of mild body horror. Still, this franchise is known for its ability to capture the attention of the whole family with exception to young children who might be startled or disturbed by some content.
