Doctor Who announces 14th Doctor: Who will replace Jodie Whittaker?

The Doctor is getting a new face once more. Doctor Who has now named the 14th Doctor, and it’s certainly casting to look forward to.

When we learned Jodie Whittaker was leaving Doctor Who, we knew what it would mean. The 14th season would bring us the 14th Doctor. The next regeneration is happening later this year, and now we know who will be the new face.

Jodie Whittaker will leave the series during the next special, which is happening in the fall of 2022. Then we’ll see the new actor take over from 2023. So, who is going to be the new face, and why are we so excited?

Ncuti Gatwa is the 14th regeneration of Doctor Who

Ncuti Gatwa is named as the new face for The Doctor, according to BBC. He is best known as Eric on Sex Education, a role that has landed him a Scottish BAFTA win and three BATFA nominations.

This is certainly a calculated choice for the series. Gatwa is popular with the younger generations, making it clear that Doctor Who wants to make the series lovable for that generation now. Considering younger actors like David Tennant and Matt Smith helped to pull in younger generations when the revival first came out, pivoting back to a younger actor who is already popular makes sense.

He is also an excellent actor. Before Sex Education, he made a name for himself in the theatrical world, and we’re excited to see what he will bring to this iconic role. He is going to bring his own style rather than trying to copy previous styles of the role.

The 14th season will also bring back Russell T. Davis as the showrunner. When this news was announced, there was a lot of praise and excitement.
