It’s no secret that M. Night Shyamalan movies can be hit and miss. Movies from this director are either great or forgettable, and we all seem to agree on which ones rank where. But in case you want a refresher or have never seen any M. Night Shyamalan movies (where have you been?), our list is a good place to start. And, who know, maybe you missed one or to.

In addition to ranking the best and worst movies by the director, we also provide details about where you can stream each movie online. This summer season is the perfect time to get together a long list of movies to watch as you’ll have more time to binge-watch. So let’s dive in!

The best M. Night Shyamalan movies

Here are the four M. Night Shyamalan movies worth watching.

1. The Sixth Sense

I think we can all agree that The Sixth Sense is M. Night Shyamalan’s best movie. It premiered in 1999 and stars Bruce Willis and Haley Joel Osment. The movie features many shocks, including a twist ending that many did not see coming. Stream this movie on Prime Video as part of your subscription, or rent it on VOD.

2. Signs

Up next, we have the movie that scared me as a child and the alien scenes (if you’ve seen this movie, you know which ones) still creep up on me today. The 2002 alien thriller is as exciting as The Sixth Sense and still holds up as one of the greats. You can stream the movie on Prime Video.

3. Unbreakable

Now, I feel like I should’ve ranked this movie higher because I know it has a huge fanbase, but I would rather rewatch Signs if I had to pick one. Unbreakable released in the year 2000, stars Bruce Willis, Samuel L. Jackson, James McAvoy, and even M. Night Shyamalan himself. This film is also streaming on Prime Video.

4. The Visit

This is movie, which premiered on 2015, still gives me chills and while I did see the big twist coming, it still creeped me out watching it all unfold. Unfortunately, this movie is not on Prime Video, you’ll have to rent this one on VOD.

The and worst M. Night Shyamalan movies

Now we’ll get to the four M. Night Shyamalan movies to skip. Let’s start the countdown.

4. Split

Okay, now we’re diving into movies a lot of fans are divided on. You either love this one or hate it, like the title, fans are really split on this one. If you’re interested in watching (or rewatching) the movie, you’ll have to rent it on VOD.

3. The Last Airbender

Do we even need to explain why The Last Airbender is on this list? The 2010 movie was a major flop at the box office and not a hit with either audiences or critics. But, if you insist on watching it, you can stream it on HBO Max.

2. The Happening

I love Zooey Deschanel and Mark Wahlberg, but this movie just wasn’t it. I mean, what even was happening on The Happening? I couldn’t even tell you. Stream the movie on Hulu, HBO Max, or Prime Video.

1. After Earth

This 2013 movie is so forgettable, yet I can’t erase it from my mind as much as I wish I could. Will Smith is a great actor, and seeing him team up with his son Jaden Smith had many curious! Unfortunately, this one was a let down. This may be the worst movie from M. Night Shyamalan, but it is the movie that is streaming in the most platforms. You can find it on Hulu, Sling TV, Prime Video, The Roku Channel, Starz, and Philo. They really want us to watch this movie!
