The CW was once the network where viewers could pretty much rest easy about the fate of their shows. While every show didn’t always make the cut, cancellations from The CW were rare compared to their peers ABC, CBS, Fox, and NBC who aren’t known for being hesitant to ax shows to make room for more in the next TV season.

However, that era on The CW is now gone. It was decimated by the network’s pending sale which will force the channel to be more selective and strategic about its line-up going forward. Nexstar is the front-runner for majority ownership, meaning Warner Media and Paramount will be moving to minor roles whilst still producing content for The CW.

We’re in a new frontier, one many fans aren’t happy about given the shows CW cancelled to cull its admittedly weighty roster. Come the fall TV season, those who continue to tune into the network will be in for a change.

The three pilots that had been in consideration–Gotham Knights, The Winchesters, and Walker: Independencehave all been picked up for series order. Though their release dates haven’t been announced, we suspect all three of the shows will be slotted somewhere in the fall line-up, which means we’re likely to see changes in the placement for the network’s veteran shows.

What other CW shows will be joining the new series in the 2022-2023 television season? Here are the CW shows renewed this year.

CW shows renewed in 2022

  • All American
  • All American: Homecoming
  • The Flash
  • Kung Fu
  • Nancy Drew
  • Riverdale
  • Superman and Lois
  • Walker

As you can see, with exception to Kung Fu, the CW shows renewed are all known IP and successful in the market even if ratings don’t always reflect that success. Riverdale is currently the lowest rated series on that list, however, the show has a strong pull internationally and does incredibly well on streaming.

Given Riverdale and The Flash‘s age, we’re likely to be saying goodbye to them in the 2022-2023 season. We’ll keep you posted on more CW news. Stay tuned to Hidden Remote!
