Warner Bros. Discovery had their Upfront presentation on May 18 and we are super excited about what’s to come! Jennifer Hudson kicked things off for the company by announcing she’ll be hosting an unscripted TV daytime talk show.

Now, Hudson is not the first (and she surely won’t be the last) celebrity to get a talk show, but these have also not always been successful. It truly takes the right celebrity to get an audience engaged and be interested in a talk show. It also depends on the guests the show will feature. In fact, there have been several talk shows that were cancelled after only one season.

Some of these cancelled talk shows after one season, include Busy Tonight, hosted by Busy Philipps, Kris with Kris Jenner, Nick Cannon‘s Nick Cannon talk show (which I have to admit I’ve never even heard about until today), and The Wanda Sykes Show with Wanda Sykes, just to name a few.

Jennifer Hudson to get her own talk show

The successful pop star is most widely known as one of the finalist on American Idol in 2004, where she finished in seventh place (she deserved first place, if you ask me). Hudson later won an Oscar for her role in Dreamgirls and most recently served as a coach on The Voice. All that said, I believe Jennifer Hudson is the perfect celebrity to take on a talk show series.

The Warner Bros. team is certainly betting on Hudson, as sources are even calling Hudson the next Ellen DeGeneres. As TV Insider reported earlier this year, Andy Lassner and Mary Connelly, who served as executive producers for Ellen, were the show runners for the test run of Hudson’s upcoming talk show.

As soon as we learn more details about Jennifer Hudson’s talk show, we’ll update this post!
