Survivor 42 episode 11 gives the final six contestants some tough choices and a reality check as alliances show their true colors. The season started with three teams of six players, and four members of the original Taku tribe have survived all of this way. One more episode and they’ll be in the season finale!

Lindsay Dolashewich, Maryanne Oketch, Omar Zaheer, Jonathan Young were Taku strong, but this episode officially breaks down those tight walls and everyone sees who’s tight with who. Maryanne realized where she stood after learning Lindsay was in possession of an immunity idol. When information is revealed within the game of Survivor and players learn their “closest” allies aren’t being honest, it’s a kick to the shins.

Survivor 42 episode 11 breaks down alliances

When it comes to having an alliance, it’s always important to have someone you can trust. Lindsay and Omar are a defined pair. Jonathan and Mike Turner are a pair. Maryanne and Romeo Escobar seem to be the votes up for grabs. It’s also important to know who you can’t trust. When the trust is lost with another player or a group, as Jonathan said tonight, “It’s time to break up.”

Once Maryanne was informed about Lindsay’s idol, via her new partner-in-crime Mike, she set a plan in motion to snuff the fire of another player’s torch. As the youngest remaining player, she’s out to prove age doesn’t matter in the game of Survivor. Survivor 42 episode 11 was thrilling to watch Maryanne take charge of the strategic game, while trying to convince others to trust her gameplay. Would her plan to vote off Omar even work if an idol was played for him?

Lindsay won individual immunity, but the question was what she would do with her idol at tribal council. There was the potential of her playing play it for Omar, since the idol expired after tonight’s episode. Jonathan and Mike were the first and second targets or at least that’s what was expected. Lindsay and Omar expected everyone to want Jonathan out. Maryanne, Mike, Jonathan, and Romeo realized a greater risk was on the horizon.

Omar has played an exceptional game to this point, making moves to get various players out. One might call him the “puppet master” of the season, but it became clear his intentions were not lining up with what he was telling people. Several people keyed on that tonight and then here comes Maryanne with a plan that lands with a “chef’s kiss.” She is able to use an extra vote advantage to orchestrate an epic blindside, and if there’s an award to give for a great move, it goes to Maryanne tonight.

Survivor contestants don’t always leave the game in the best moods after massive blindsides, but like last week’s ultimate sportsmanship, Omar is sent home while taking it gracefully. He even smiles and asks Maryanne before the deciding vote is cast, “You did it?” In which she replies, “I did.” This is an incredible moment after a fantastic vote and it’s moments like this that make Survivor magical.
