What is Fire Country about?
Fire Country is one of the CBS pilots picked up to series for the 2022–2023 season. What is the series formally known as Cal Fire about?
One of the CBS pilots we kept an eye on was Cal Fire. The series stars Max Thieriot, and SEAL Team fans wanted to know what that meant for Bravo Team’s Clay Spencer. Would he be back? Well, there would only be a problem if the pilot was picked up to series.
Of course, that happened. It looks like with SEAL Team starting production sometime this month, the two studios are looking to make Max’s schedule work for both. Cal Fire is now called Fire Country, and it will premiere in fall 2022 on Fridays at 9/8c.
Before you commit to a new series, you’ll want to know what it’s about. Here’s all we know about Fire Country so far.
Fire Country synopsis
What is Fire Country about? As the title suggests, it’s about firefighters. However, this is more than another 911 or Station 19. In this one, not all firefighters have been through the rigorous selection process and training.
Thieriot plays Bode Donovan, once an all-American son in his rural hometown and now a convict. He wants redemption, and that means he’s willing to take some dangerous steps to gain it. He signs up to an unconventional prison release firefighting program.
Based in Northern California, the convicts signing up to this program join elite firefighters to extinguish the massive and unpredictable wildfires across the region. It is a high-risk program, but it’s also a high-reward one as it means shorter prison sentences and a chance of redemption.
Bode ends up being assigned to his rural hometown. Not only is he dealing with the danger of the fires, but he’ll have to face the people who knew him before his troubles began.
