Is The Flash Season 9 the final season of The CW superhero series?

The Flash is on the move. The Flash Season 9 won’t be part of the fall 2022 schedule. Does that suggest Season 9 is going to be the last?

There have been a lot of changes to The CW schedule. Many shows have received abrupt cancellations for the first time in years. It’s not easy to take, and these cancellations have us worried about the shows that have been renewed.

When The CW released its fall 2022 schedule, there were a few usual suspects missing. One of those is The Flash Season 9, which is being pushed to the midseason. Considering the show remains popular on the network, this move is worrisome. Does it indicate that it’s the final season of The CW superhero series?

Is The Flash Season 9 the last on The CW?

Right now, The CW has not confirmed that The Flash Season 9 is the last. On the contrary, Riverdale Season 7 is confirmed as the last, and that’s another show that is moving to the midseason. If the network was definitely done with the superhero show, we’d likely have heard about that by now.

Variety reports that Mark Pedowitz says The CW isn’t done with the CWverse, previously known as the Arrowverse. There are still some CW DC shows on the air, with Stargirl Season 3 getting a fall slot and Superman & Lois still airing, although it’s also moving to the midseason.

Pedowitz didn’t confirm or deny that The Flash Season 9 would be the last, though. He’s left it open depending on the situation as it unfolds throughout the next TV season.

The CW is going through a sale. We’re also seeing the production studios choosing to end the run of shows rather than the network. At this point, it could be up to Warner Bros. TV to decide on the fate of this superhero series.
