Squid Game season 2: All the details on the upcoming second season

Squid Game. I don’t even know if I can handle thinking about that show. It was so good where you want to watch it again, but also don’t want to go through that trauma for a second time. I don’t know, how do you guys feel?

I do know that even with those feelings, I definitely want to see more. Many Netflix fans out there would agree. The series took the world by storm and became a massive hit on the streaming service. And it’s no surprise that it did. The story was so interesting and very well thought out, and what happens with that first game just shocks the life out of you.

The series is a bite your nails, sitting on the edge of your seat kind of watch. Though the first season’s story came to a pretty tied up end, we won’t say no to more. Thankfully it seems like a second season has pretty much been green-lit.

Squid Game season 2 release updates

There isn’t an official release date yet, but the genius creator (Hwang Dong-hyuk) of the South Korean survival drama said that he is currently in final discussions with Netflix about moving forward with a second season.

He said it could be released in 2023 or 2024, according to Entertainment Weekly.

What is Squid Game season 2 about?

Right now the filmmaker is in the brainstorm stages for the second season. He currently only has around three pages of rough material that will turn into a script. In terms of potential themes, he wants to dive into the opposite of season 1 and explore the question of “is true solidarity between humans possible?,” according to EW.

The filmmaker did also confirm actor Lee Jung-jae, who plays lead character Seong Gi-hun will definitely reprise his role in season 2.

Dong-hyuk is also thinking of giving actor Lee Byun-hun a bigger role as the Front Man who oversees the games. He’s definitely an interesting character that we didn’t get to spend much time with. What’s his motivation behind all of this? After all he killed his own brother because of these games.
