On Thursday, May 12, The CW made decisions we never saw coming. It turns out that the decisions weren’t because of the network, either. We can blame the production studios for them.
Usually, we’d have said there would have been a bulk of renewals on the network. This could have meant a few final season orders, but the shows would have had the time to create endings to give us a proper goodbye.
What’s going on with some of our favorite shows? Is Charmed cancelled or renewed for Season 5?
Charmed is cancelled after four seasons
There was some bad news on the day of cancellations for all fans of the Charmed reboot. The series has been cancelled after four seasons.
This was surprising. While the show isn’t performing all that well in the live ratings, it isn’t too bad for a Friday night. We’re also used to seeing The CW push shows to around 88 to 100 episodes so that they can be syndicated. The fourth season isn’t going to give the series enough for this so we expected a fifth season.
Sadly, CBS TV Studios is done with the series. It didn’t have the support for it considering the lower ratings, especially with The CW being sold onto another network. This also means it’s near impossible for the show to be saved by a streaming network.
This means the Season 4 finale is going to be the series finale. All episodes of the season will still head to Netflix in June 2022, and this will mean all seasons will remain there for a few years. Usually it’s between five and seven years once a CW show comes to an end before the series is removed from Netflix and goes elsewhere.
