Mr. Malcolm’s List release date, cast, synopsis, and more

Mr. Malcolm’s List is an anticipated release for romance and period piece lovers alike. The film, which has been a buzzy title since the debut of a short teaser that dropped a few years ago, is based on the book by Suzanne Allain. The author also penned the live-action adaptation of her work.

Picture this. It’s the 1800s, specifically regency London, and the talk around town is that a Mr. Jeremy Malcolm is one of the most eligible bachelors in high society. He’s also highly particular and refuses to marry unless a woman meets the exacting standards of his list.

When he rejects Julia Thistlewaite, she vows revenge. Cue a plot involving her friend Selina Dalton. As romance readers know, however, the best laid plans never do go off without a hitch and more times than not a story gets turned on its head.

"The film, based on the book of the same name by Suzanne Allain, follows handsome and wealthy bachelor Mr. Malcolm (Gangs of London’s Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù) who sets out to find a wife who can match his long list of lofty criteria. Meanwhile the very eligible Julia Thistlewaite (Zawe Ashton) goes about trying to get revenge on Malcolm after she was rejected for not meeting the qualifications on his list, and enlists the help of her friend Selina Dalton (Freida Pinto) to do so."
