Bailey fought to keep the Residency Program going at Grey Sloan Memorial. Did she succeed in the Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 finale? Has she decided to leave the hospital?
Throughout Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 we watched as the Residency Program was at risk. Webber tried to reinvent the wheel, but it went very wrong. This led to Bailey fighting hard to show that the hospital is still good for teaching new residents.
The problem was a lot of attendings were leaving. Bailey was fighting a losing battle. With the loss of a patient at in the Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 finale, Bailey learned that the Residency Program was closing down. The director of the program board also suggested that a change at the hospital was needed. The team had become a dysfunctional family.
Is Bailey leaving Grey’s Anatomy?
Rather than fire doctors, Bailey decided it was time for her to leave. She handed Meredith the keys to the Chief’s office and made it clear that she quit. No warning. Nothing.
Bailey said that she had to put her health first. That was both her physical and mental health. She and Pru would bake cookies and do other fun things. It sounds like she wants to take early retirement.
Is that going to be it? Is this the last we’ve seen of Bailey? There are no signs that Chandra Wilson is leaving, but that hasn’t stopped changes before. We just have to look at how Hayes left without warning and we found out after the fact.
So, there is a chance that this was the end for Bailey. I doubt it, though. We could see Chandra Wilson move over to Station 19 more than Grey’s Anatomy for Bailey and Ben to have more storylines together, but I doubt we’ve lost Wilson from the Grey’s family overall.
