So You Think You Can Dance season 17 episode 4 was the Choreography Round of the competition. 42 dancers needed to be narrowed down to 12 as the judges decided who has what it takes to make it on the main stage.

First, they had to stand out in a small group, dancing to a remix of “I Wanna Dance (With Somebody Who Loves Me)” by Whitney Houston. The song was repeated throughout the episode as the stakes increased with each part of this intense round.

The dancers who made it past part one reunited with choreographer Mandy Moore to work on partnering. For some of the competition, this was a new challenge as they’ve spent their careers dancing solo. While some rose to the occasion, others failed to impress the judges. Technique paid a critical role in this part of the episode.

Finally, the remaining dancers were put to the test with a big group number. But, besides the Whitney Houston cover, what else played in the episode? Here’s what we know!

  • “Moments We Live For” – In Paradise
