Where can you stream Pixar’s Lightyear online? Is the movie Lightyear on Disney+?

My oh my, we have such an interesting release happening with the return of one of the beloved characters in Toy Story with the film Lightyear. The big question of the week is, will the Lightyear movie be available on the small screen, big screen, or both? Here’s what you need to know about the movie.

Toy Story is one of the most storied (sorry couldn’t resist) franchises in, not just animated history, but film history. All four films in the franchise have been nominated for a total of 11 Academy Awards together, including Toy Story 3, one of only two animated (Beauty and the Beast) films to garner a Best Picture nomination. To say that they are taking a risk with Lightyear is an understatement.

The plot for Lightyear shares the story of Buzz Lightyear and his adventures in the world of infinity and beyond. Buzz is being voiced by Captain America himself, Chris Evans. Other key cast members include Keke Palmer, Dales Soules, Taika Waititi and James Brolin.

The didn’t exactly knock my socks off, but I have A LOT of faith in Pixar to deliver the good on this one. What did you think of the trailer? Are you excited about this one? Let us know in the comments.

Is the movie Lightyear streaming online?

The answer for this one is easy, and it’s a no. You won’t be able to stream the movie at home, at least not right away. The budget for the movie sits at a MASSIVE $200 million, and that’s not including promotional costs. Because of this, Disney is only be releasing this movie worldwide in theaters.

Is the movie Lightyear streaming on Disney+?

Update: July 19 – Deadline reports Lightyear will be available to stream Wednesday, Aug. 3 on Disney+.

One thing to keep an eye on is the film’s legs, with other kid-friendly movies scheduled to come out, Disney may attempt to try to capitalize in the aftermarket and have this available on PVOD or Digitally by end of summer 2022. If anything changes, including details of its eventual release on Disney+, we will update you.
