Is Kit Harington returning as Jon Snow in the Game of Thrones sequel?
There’s a Game of Thrones sequel reportedly in the works, and it’s going to focus on Jon Snow. Will Kit Harington return to the role, or will it be recast?
While we’re extremely excited to watch the Game of Thrones prequel series, House of the Dragon, there are now reports that a sequel series is in the works. The Hollywood Reporter shares that HBO is in early stages of discussions about a sequel series that will follow Jon Snow.
Of course, there are a lot of fans wishing that another Stark character would be the focus on a sequel. We want to see what’s west of Westeros with Arya Stark. That being said, the Jon Snow sequel will take us North of the Wall, and it will hopefully include Tormund.
Before we look at other characters, we need to know about one particular character. It’s all about Jon Snow. Will we get to see Kit Harington back in the role, or is this one that will need to be recast?
Kit Harington is reportedly returning as Jon Snow in Game of Thrones
The report about the sequel spin-off says that Harington is in talks to return as Jon Snow. There is no official confirmation of this (or even that the series is happening yet), but it’s clear that the focus is on bringing Harington back and not recasting the role.
After eight seasons, Harington is Jon Snow. It’s hard to imagine anyone else in the role.
Will the Game of Thrones sequel actually happen, though? That’s the big question right now. With HBO not commenting on the project just yet, it’s hard to say. However, HBO’s chief content officer Casey Bloys has previously said that if there is the right story, it will happen. That’s led to House of the Dragon so far, but it’s clear that HBO wants to keep the franchise going considering Game of Thrones‘s success for the network.
