What is Five Days at Memorial on Apple TV+ about?

Five Days at Memorial is based on real-life events, showing the impact of Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath on a local hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana. When the floodwaters rose, power failed, and the heat soared, exhausted medical staff at the hospital were forced to make decisions that would follow them for years to come.

Hurricane Katrina was a large and destructive Category 5 Atlantic hurricane that caused over 1,800 fatalities in August 2005. The teaser trailer reveals that in real life and in the five days following the storm, thousands of people were trapped in an actual New Orleans hospital – Memorial Medical Center. The teaser trailer hints at some of the struggles staff faced, including running out of food and water.

The series is set to premiere globally on Apple TV+ on Friday, Aug. 12. There will be a total of eight episodes, with the first three released on premiere day. They will be followed by new episodes streaming weekly until the finale on Sept. 16, according to Deadline.
