We have reached another weekend and I couldn’t be happier to sit back and enjoy some movies. Below, we share the best new movies to watch in theaters and films available on streaming services that you won’t want to miss.

Last week had so many movies, that if none of the ones this week peak your interest, make sure to go back and check them out. From Good Luck to Leo Grande (Hulu) to Cha Cha Real Smooth (Apple TV+) to Jerry and Marge Go Large (Paramount+)

Weekend movies to watch (and stream) today

  • The Black Phone, In Theaters
  • Elvis, In Theaters
  • Rise, Disney+
  • Love & Gelato, Netflix
  • Marcel the Shell with Shoes On, In Theaters

The weekend’s biggest release is Elvis, which is also my most anticipated summer movie. I know that it is kind of crazy to say that about a non-blockbuster style of film, but Elvis Presley is one of the most iconic celebrities ever. The film was written by a crew of writers led by Baz Luhrmann (also directs). Luhrmann’s filmography speaks for itself with The Great Gatsby, Moulin Rouge! and Romeo + Juliet, three films that I adore.

The film stars Austin Butler as Elvis. There has been a wide range of talk about the job he will do in the movie, but with Lisa Marie and Priscilla Presley putting the stamp of approval on his performance, it only amped up my excitement about the film. The cast also includes Tom Hanks, Olivia DeJonge and Kodi Smit-McPhee.

The other big release of the weekend is The Black Phone which stars Ethan Hawke as a sadistic, masked killer. The film’s trailer is INSANE. Ever since the film’s hype came out of CinemaCon, I have been ready to be seated for the movie at the theater.

What will you be watching this weekend? Will you enjoy a movie in theaters or streaming?
