Fans of psychological thrillers have one coming to Apple TV+ that looks very interesting and is definitely a series that I’ll definitely be checking out! Black Bird stars Taron Egerton in the leading role as Jimmy Keene.

Also taking on roles in the new series are Paul Walter Hauser as Larry Hall and Ray Liotta as Big Jim Keene, Jimmy’s father. This was Liotta’s final television role before the actor died in his sleep on May 26, 2022 at the age of 67.

Black Bird is inspired by actual events and an adaptation of the true crime memoir. In with the Devil: A Fallen Hero, a Serial Killer, and a Dangerous Bargain for Redemption by authors James Keene and Hillel Levin. Keene as well as Egerton also serve as executive producers on the series.

So how many episodes will it take for this story to play out?

How many episodes are in Black Bird season 1?

The limited series has a total of six episodes. The first two will premiere on Friday, July 8, 2022 followed by one new episode weekly every Friday. The finale is set for Aug. 5. on Apple TV+.

The story follows the son of high school football hero and decorated policeman, Jimmy Keene. Jimmy hasn’t really followed in his father, Big Jim Keene’s footsteps. Jimmy has been sentenced to 10 years in a minimum security prison. He’s given a choice – enter a maximum security prison for the criminally insane and befriend suspected serial killer Larry Hall, or stay where he is and serve his full sentence with no possibility of parole.

The goal is to elicit a confession out of Hall on where the bodies of several young girls are buried before his appeal goes through. But is he telling the truth or just making up tales? We’ll find out come this July!
