July 1 weekend movies: Every new movie in theaters and streaming this weekend
By Ricky Valero
IT’S BANANA FRIDAY!!!! Everyone get excited because we have reached the weekend.
Below, we share the best new movies to watch in theaters and films available on streaming services that you won’t want to miss.
There is a rather light week of films being released and I think a lot of that has to do with Netflix releasing the second part of season 4 of Stranger Things.
It might be just two episodes, but within those two episodes, they’re nearly four hours long. So streaming platforms were wise to stay away from this weekend.
New movies to watch (and stream) today
- Minions Rise of Gru, In Theaters
- Marvel Studios Assembled: The Making of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Disney+
- The Princess, Hulu
The weekend’s biggest release is the return of everyone’s favorite little guys in the Minions Rise of Gru. The story follows the tale of Gru, who dreamt of becoming the world’s greatest supervillain. Considering Gru is my favorite character of the bunch, I am excited to see an origin story of why he became what he became. I am sure the kids will have you lined up at the door when theaters open to catch this one.
Hulu is trying to continue its trend of hits with another original film starring Joey King in The Princess. The film follows a strong-willed princess who refuses to wed someone. She is kidnapped and locked in a tower. I love Joey King and hope this movie is better than what we saw in the trailer.
Are you a fan of the making of projects? Well, Disney+ is releasing the making of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. I wasn’t a big fan of the film, but the behind-the-scenes of how they were made is always worth checking out.
What will you be watching this weekend? Will you enjoy a movie in theaters or streaming?
