The last Ripped from the Headlines movie from the summer slate to premiere on Lifetime before Flowers in the Attic: The Origin takes over is Jailbreak Lovers.

The film centers on Toby, a woman who’s not known to be impulsive. Her life has gone the way it’s “supposed.” Her husband is the first person she ever dated, they have a family together, and they’re churchgoers. Hers is the quintessential, checks all the boxes, doesn’t color outside of the lines, life…until she loses her job.

Faced with next steps and an uncertain future, Toby decides to start a non-profit that focuses on rehabilitating abused, rescued dogs. She runs the program at the local prison and that’s where she meets John. He’s a younger man and a convicted murderer, but his care with the dogs and his attention toward her sparks an infatuation between the two that lights into a fire of reckless love and bad decisions.

Refusing to be apart from one another, Toby and John hatch a plan to break him out of prison. It involves dog crates and a bit of ingenuity. It also inspires a federal manhunt that puts Toby on the wrong side of the law for the first time in her life.
